Of all the places I’d ever wanted to visit, or things I’d like to do, I’m going to be honest…a cruise & Alaska weren’t at the top. I always thought Alaska was beautiful but I was fine enjoying it from afar. A cruise though? I thought for sure there was no way. I get motion sickness in cars on fishing boats, from riding roller coasters etc. So does Lucy SO a cruise seemed like a big NO up until Dramamine asked to partner with me & send us on an adventure that required us to #KeepMoving. I was super excited at what they had in mind for our trip and gladly accepted the challenge of putting my nausea to the ultimate test. They have a new non-drowsy formula that saved my life. I took it every morning & also gave the girls their children’s chewable tablets. We never ever ever got sick. And that my friends…is a miracle.
Our first day of exploring Alaska & we spent it visiting glaciers & whale watching in Juneau. We saw a few packs of Orcas & a ton of Humpbacks. I’ve been whale watching a couple times in California & have neverrrrr seen a whale. We were so stinking excited. Also, they had “glacier margaritas” on the boat. Just sayin’.
Next day we woke up in Skagway Alaska for a day that made me very anxious!!! I’m not a great flyer. I get really nervous & always think worst case scenario, so a helicopter ride terrified me!!! I had to keep it cool for my kids because like me…they get the case of the nerves over anything a little dangerous. I took my Dramamine & we headed to the helicopter. As soon as I got on the nerves left. The view was seriously bananas. Forests & ocean as far as the eye can see. The higher we got the green mountains turned snowy & bright blue glaciers started to appear. Thennnnnnn a huge area of white. Down below you could see little tents & the closer we got you could see tonsssss of Huskies. My girls were in heaven because one of the dogs just had puppies!!!! Needless to say this day is one I will never forget! Never ever. If you have the opportunity to do this excursion, DO IT!!!
Died and went to heaven. The town of Skagway was really adorable as well.
Came back from a dream day & went straight to the hot tub
Next day we cruised Glacier Bay. NBD just giant blue glaciers surrounding us & Bald Eagles flying everywhere. 😉
There were a few days where we spent the whole day on the boat. This was one of them. The girls & I didn’t mind it at all. There’s so much to doooooo on a cruise ship. We played games, watched a movie in the theatre & had it all to ourselves, watched magic shows, bowled! Basically they have you covered in there. No time to be bored.
And don’t forget the sunsets at sea. My favorite time of day.
Day 6: Ketchikan! We caught up on some sleep this morning then got off the boat to check out the local town. I’d been craving crab & found the cutest spot to get some!
Last stop on our cruise was Victoria B.C. our first time out of the country together! We found a cute farmers market with street performers & food carts.
My favorite thing this day was taking the water taxi to Fisherman’s Warf . I’m obsessed with those little boats!!!!
Loved the wharf! Definitely pay it a visit…at sunset. So that was our last day on the ship. The boat dropped us off in Seattle where we met up with some of my family who lives in town. I’ve actually never been to Seattle & had a few hours to kill. I made them take me to some touristy spots. I feel a little bad about making them do that on a weekend. It was soooooo crowded everywhere but we did have a blast. So happy to see them.
All good things must come to an end 🙁 So thankful for the memories we made on this trip. Thank you Dramamine for taking us on a wild ride & keeping us motion sickness free! haha
